Frank Gerrits, P. Eng., is the founder and principal
of Gerrits Engineering. Frank has worked as a design engineer in Barrie for
over 15 years, and started his own practice in the fall of 2006.
Frank is a graduate of the University of Waterloo, class of 1991. After
several co-op work terms with an architectural and structural engineering
firm in Lindsay, Frank accepted full-time employment with them upon
graduation, where Frank gained valuable knowledge and experience not only in
structural engineering but in architecture as well. This experience and
training has proven very beneficial in allowing Frank to have an excellent
understanding of building design, and the interaction required between all
consultants, and the client, for the successful completion of projects.
In 1993 Frank became a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of
Ontario, obtaining his Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation. In 2006, Frank obtained his license with
the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists of
Alberta. In 2010, Frank obtained his
license with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of
British Columbia. Frank is also a
designated Consulting Engineer.
In 1994 Frank left the firm in Lindsay to take up employment in Barrie, where
he has been ever since, and where he has developed numerous business and
personal affiliations.
Frank became active with the Barrie Construction Association in 1999, where
he served as a director from 1999-2001, vice president from 2001-2002 and
president from 2003-2004.
Although the registration requirements have now been repealed by the Ministry
of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Frank has successfully completed the Ministry’s
building code examinations. Frank completed examinations for: complex
buildings, large buildings, small buildings, housing & structural.
